About

It started in the early 90s when I was still a child - with this brand-new Rayburn Nouvelle (pictured below) that my godmother had installed. As an inquisitive little chap my curiosity was satisfied when I was shown how everything worked - where the burner was behind the door and what all the dials and switches were for. I think they knew that if they didn’t show me properly I would find out for myself! Things got even better when the freshly baked biscuits and other home-made delights were taken out of the oven and set on the kitchen table ready to eat.

Our old 90s Rayburn nouvelle

The Rayburn was always the centre of family life in my godparent’s house and, as I learnt when visiting school friends, it was the same in many households. The Aga is the heart of the home after all. My long suffering parents had to endure constant questioning, “why didn’t we have one in our kitchen?”. I remember how disappointed I was when I found out my mother had once been offered a 2-oven red Aga free of charge and she had turned it down! I always had the response, “when you get your own house you can have one”.

Fast forward a good handful of years, and numerous homes with cast iron cookers, I was able to pursue my interest. With a lot of time spent learning from experienced Aga Rayburn engineers, it became my turn to ensure these wonderful beasts continued to function, not just as cookers, but as an important part of the family in many a home.
